
CALIFORNIA — A teenage girl, believed to be 12-years-old, is in police custody following a shooting at a Los Angeles middle school Thursday.
The gunfire broke out inside of a classroom at Salvador Castro Middle School, northwest of downtown Los Angeles—in the 1500 block of West Second Street.
Two students were shot and three more were injured, police said.
The 15-year-old shooting victims are one male and one female. The boy was in critical condition and the girl was in fair condition, according to fire officials. The weapon was recovered by police.

The two schools on the campus were placed on lockdown.
A motive for the crime was not known.
