Macedonia has announced it has closed its border with Greece to migrants, police confirmed in a statement.
A spokesman for Greece had reported that the border has been closed since Tuesday evening.
A police official has said that the decision was taken after trains into Slovenia were disrupted as a result of the flow of migrants.
Many images previously emerged of migrants straying on to rail tracks to walk into other countries.
The rail company’s website states on Wednesday that unscheduled problems had disrupted traffic at the crossing with Croatia, trains will be replaced with busses.
This comes as Serbia has announced it will only allow migrants to enter through their country if they were only seeking asylum in Germany or Austria.
One week ago, Austria announced it would be turning back any new arrivals that were seeking asylum in Scandinavia.
A Serbian minister commented that migrants cannot continue with their journey unless they plan to seek asylum in Germany.
