OREGON — On Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies received information on a subject who had passed counterfeit $100 bills to the Clackamas Target Store.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit were called to assist deputies with the investigation.

The investigators were able to locate the suspect at Best Buy at Cascade Station, and detained two people in the vehicle — Deborah Michelle Musselwhite, age 22, of Forest Grove, who had a warrant for her arrest in Multnomah County, and a male subject.

The suspect who had allegedly passed the counterfeit $100 bills — Wesley James Romero, age 26, of Forest Grove — was not with the vehicle at the time of the stop, but soon returned to the vehicle and was also detained.

A search was then conducted of Mr. Romero’s car. Detectives located computers, printers and hard drives along with counterfeit currency.

Mr. Romero told investigators that he had passed the counterfeit money at the Clackamas Target Store and other stores in the Portland metro area. Mr. Romero was then transported to the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Forgery in the First Degree.

Ms. Musselwhite was arrested on a Multnomah County Warrant for Theft in the Second Degree. The male subject was released at the scene.

A total $39,585 of counterfeit United States currency was recovered during the investigation.
