CALIFORNIA — On Sunday June 21, 2015 at 10:30 PM, San Francisco Police Officers responded to a call of a man assembling a shotgun on the corner of Bush and Octavia Street. The first arriving officer attempted to stop the suspect from fully assembling the shotgun. The suspect, a 6’04” tall and 187 pound man later identified as Joshua Boling immediately resisted arrest and attacked the officer.

Additional officers arrived and, upon seeing these additional officers, Boling disengaged from the primary officer and charged at the two back up officers. The initial officer seized this opportunity and grabbed Boling from behind. Boling, however, turned back to the primary officer, grabbed him around the waist and slammed him into a wall. This officer lost consciousness and was later determined to have suffered a concussion.

The secondary officers pulled Boling off of the injured Officer but Boiling then charged back at the injured Officer who lay unconscious on the sidewalk. Additional officers had arrived on the scene and they struggled to restrain Boling who fought violently to get free. Boling struck a sergeant in the face as the sergeant attempted to place Boling in handcuffs. Boling was eventually subdued and placed into handcuffs.

Despite being physically restrained, Boling spat at officers and thrashed about on the ground. Boling was subsequently transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he was treated and released and then booked into San Francisco County Jail. Joshua Boling, male, 23, of Colorado was charged with: resisting a police officer causing serious injury or death, aggravated assault on a police officer with force, battery on a police officer, battery with serious injuries, and resisting, delaying, and/or obstructing police officers duties.

The primary officer was transported to Saint Francis Hospital where he was treated and later released. A booking photo of Boling and photos of a shotgun similar to the one possessed by Boling accompanies this press release.

The shotgun that Boling was attempting to assemble is a Diamond Pigeon Beretta Shotgun with engraving around the receiver. The shotgun is valued between $8,000 and $95,000.
