LOS ANGELES — A man has been charged with killing his mother and his 6-year-old nephew last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
David Cordoba, 26, was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
On Dec. 21, 2020, Cordoba was at the home he shares with his mother in the 1800 block of W. 11th Street and allegedly killed his 60-year-old mother, Maria R., and his 6-year-old nephew during a “dispute,” prosecutors said.
Cordoba’s brother, also the boy’s father, was stabbed in the back when he arrived at the home to pick up the child. The brother disarmed Cordoba and suffered minor injuries.
“It’s really painful to sit here and think this is my reality right now and my son is no longer here,” the child’s mother, Monica Robles, told KTLA.
Cordoba fled the residence and was arrested a short time later.
If convicted as charged, Cordoba faces a possible maximum sentence of 39 years to life in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
