MINNEAPOLIS –A Richfield man was charged with a felony assault for punching another man outside of President Donald Trump’s campaign rally, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday.

Dwight Pierre Lewis, 31, was charged with a single count of third-degree assault. He is expected to make his first court appearance Thursday.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police he was outside the Target Center after the Oct. 10 campaign rally when he was punched in the mouth. He told police he received several stiches at the hospital as a result of the punch.

Police used video posted on-line by a news outlet to identify Lewis. On Monday, Lewis turned himself in and admitted to Minneapolis Police investigators that he was the person in the video, the complaint states.

The Star Tribune says that a police report notes the 22-year-old victim was leaving the rally when attacked.
