LOS ANGELES — A 42-year-old man has been charged with allegedly stabbing his mother and father at their Santa Monica home, killing his mom.
Stephen Lloyd Fader, of Brentwood, faces one felony count each of murder and attempted murder.
Deputy District Attorney Morgan Mallory said the charges include special allegations that Fader ‘used a knife as a deadly and dangerous weapon and that he inflicted great bodily injury upon his father who is older than 70 years old.’
Fader pleaded not guilty today.
Howard Fader, 82, and Sharon Fader, 75, both were stabbed multiple times on or between Jan. 23 and Jan. 24, according to the criminal complaint. Sharon Fader died as a result of her injuries.
A motive for the incident remains unknown.
If convicted as charged, Stephen Fader faces a possible maximum sentence of 32 years to life in state prison. Bail is set at $3 million.
