Man Executed Acquaintance at Colorado Campground, Sheriff Says

Pueblo, CO: Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 30-year-old Texas man in connection with the shooting death of another man late Wednesday night at a campground north of Pueblo.

Deputies responded to the KOA Campground, 4131 N. Interstate 25, at about 10:30 p.m. on a call of shots fired in the area. When deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle with the passenger side door open and a man lying on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the 30-year-old man deceased. The identity of the man and the cause death will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.
Deputies located a second man in a nearby field and immediately took him into custody. The man, identified as Evan Gaw, was arrested for second-degree murder. He has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail. A gun has been recovered.

Deputies learned Gaw and the victim, who also was from Texas, had earlier rented a camping spot at the campground for the night. Officials did not reveal a possible motive or say what led up to the shooting.
