A man was sentenced to seven years in state prison today for hitting a 75-year-old man with an electric scooter in downtown Los Angeles this summer.
Janai Washington, 41, pleaded no contest last month to one count of elder abuse with personal infliction of great bodily injury.
On June 13, Washington approached the elderly victim who was sitting in a chair at 6th and Spring streets and threw an electric scooter at him, injuring his head and arm.
A bystander intervened and the defendant fled. Washington was later identified by police and arrested on June 19.
