PUEBLO, Colo. — On Wednesday, at 6:21 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Apollo
Lane in reference to a family disturbance. The caller reported that her adult son had armed
himself with a knife and threatened to kill both she and her husband. The victims were able
to exit the residence prior to the officers’ arrival.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect, 31-year-old Philip Temeyosa, was still inside
the residence. Officers approached the front door of the residence and attempted to communicate with Temeyosa. Temeyosa appeared before the officers while brandishing a large butcher knife. Temeyosa threatened the officers and then walked out of their view. The officers then backed away, established a perimeter, and began authoring affidavits for a search warrant and an arrest warrant.

While the affidavits were being drafted, trained negotiators attempted to communicate with
him and convince him to exit the residence. Temeyosa failed to cooperate with the negotiators and remained in the home. The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was then summoned to the scene. When the SWAT Team arrived and began preparing to serve the warrants, Temeyosa peacefully exited the residence on his own.

Temeyosa was taken into custody without further incident.

Temeyosa was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on five counts of
Menacing with a Deadly Weapon.
