Man Pulls Gun on Cop, Gets Arrested, Says “You should’ve shot me for what I did.”

Jacksonville, FL. Sheriff’s Office: On July 9, 2017 at 9:14 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted by a JSO Officer on Rayford Street for a stop sign violation. The officer made contact with the driver and passenger (suspect). The officer returned to his vehicle. The suspect (passenger) opened the door and began to run.

The suspect was given verbal commands to stop, disregarded police and continued to run. Two police officers pursued the suspect on foot.

As the suspect was running he reached into his front waistband. and pulled out a black Glock 19. He had the gun in his right hand and began to turn back towards the officer. The suspect turned his whole body including the firearm in the officer’s direction, parallel with the ground, as he began to trip. He fell and dropped the firearm on the ground. At that time, the suspect was apprehended and placed in handcuffs.

The suspect was searched and an additional .25cal Beretta handgun was located in the suspect’s pocket. While the suspect was being transported to jail, the suspect stated, “You should’ve shot me for what I did.”

-Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (two counts)
-Carrying a Concealed Firearm
-Resisting an Officer
-Armed Possession of Marijuana
