Macon, GA. – On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 13 Perry Office was requested by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at 5:44 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute at 493 Bob White Road, Macon, Bibb County, GA. Keith Young, 30, was reported to have tied up his wife inside the residence then took three children from the residence. Young left the area driving a red 2014 Ford F150. The female escaped the residence on Bob White Road and ran to a nearby residence on Karlee Dawn Drive where friends lived. His wife said they were going through a divorce.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and responded to the residence on Karlee Dawn Drive where they made contact with Young’s wife.

While deputies were still on scene taking the report from the victim in reference to the domestic dispute, two Bibb County deputies were outside their vehicles and observed Young driving the red Ford F150, accelerating at a high rate of speed towards the patrol vehicles, one of which was occupied by a third deputy. The two deputies outside their vehicles fired several times at the truck, striking Young. The first patrol vehicle struck by Young rammed into a second Bibb County patrol vehicle that had a Bibb County deputy inside. The impact launched the second patrol vehicle on top of the first Bibb County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. The deputy inside the struck vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, treated, and released. The other two deputies were not injured.

Young was transported to Navicent Health Hospital in Macon, GA. Young was pronounced dead after being treated for several hours. The three children were located and are safe. Young will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon for an autopsy to be completed.
