Man Kidnaps 19-Year-Old From Work, Kills Her After Chase Ends Outside High School, Police Say

A 20-year-old man identified as Cameron Ja’Michael Hopkins from Albany, Georgia, has been arrested in relation to the abduction and murder of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend. He is also accused of having previously kidnapped the same woman a year before.

According to law enforcement, the victim was forcibly taken from her workplace at a Fayetteville restaurant at gunpoint and driven away. She was shot multiple times in a school parking lot where the police had intercepted the vehicle. Local news channel WAGA-TV reported Hopkins had been arrested previously for kidnapping the same victim, identified as Khaliyah Jones.

911 CALL FROM RESTAURANT:

Fayetteville police announced on Monday that Hopkins is now facing charges of kidnapping and assault. Booking records from Clayton County indicate that he is also charged with murder with malice and aggravated assault.

Upon stopping the suspect’s car in the parking lot of a Clayton County school, shots were fired both at the police and within the vehicle itself. Hopkins was eventually arrested after the police utilized an irritant chemical to force him out of the car. Jones was discovered dead inside the vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
