Man who killed ex-girlfriend in front of kids before shooting himself charged in her murder

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Jermaine Bailey, 39, is now charged with criminal homicide for the December 16th fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend, Shalinda Gordon, 42, inside her 801 Netherlands Drive home. Bailey shot himself in the head inside the home prior to police arrival.

Gordon’s 11-year-old daughter and 11-year-old grandson were inside the home at the time of the shooting, according to WKRN. He was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center today.

At the time of the shooting, Bailey was under an active order of protection to have no contact with Gordon after she reported that he was repeatedly texting and calling her despite her admonishment for him to stop. Bailey was arrested for harassing Gordon on November 11th. The order of protection was served on him then. He was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond.

In addition to murder, Bailey is also charged with violating a restraining order and unlawful gun possession due to the order of protection. He is being held without bond.
