Howard County, Maryland — First responders rescued a small child who became locked inside of a gun safe Tuesday afternoon.
Around noon, units from Howard County Fire and EMS were called due to a report of a child locked in the safe. Crews arrived and discovered a large gun safe with a five-year-old child locked inside.
“During the extrication operation, air monitoring was performed,” officials said in a tweet. “Access was accomplished in the rear wall of the safe. The child was evaluated and released to the parents and was in good spirits.”

It was unclear how the child became locked inside.
