Memphis Police Hunt Suspected Serial Rapist

Austin Police officers responded to the report an attempted kidnapping.

MEMPHIS, TENN — On Sunday, at 4:00am, Ridgeway Station Officers responded to a sexual assault call in the Madison at Cypress Lake Apartments. A female victim was home when a suspect broke into her apartment. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

The suspect was armed with a handgun during this crime. No suspect vehicle was seen.

This crime appears to be similar to a crime that occurred in January 2016.

The suspect on April 10, 2016 is described as black male, in his 20’s, thin build, wearing white shoes, blue jeans, and a white shirt. No other description is available at this time.

On January 3, 2016 at approximately 10:30 pm, Ridgeway Station Officers responded to a call in the Arbors of Hickory Ridge Apartments. A female victim was home when a suspect broke into her apartment. The suspect robbed and sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The suspect was armed with a handgun during this crime. No suspect vehicle was seen.

This crime appears to be similar to crimes that occurred throughout 2015 at other apartment complexes. The other crimes occurred in areas such as Sycamore View and LaGrange, Covington Pike and Stage, Germantown Road and Walnut Grove, and North Germantown Road and Rock Creek Parkway. No vehicle has been seen in any of the crimes. No video of the suspect has been recovered.

The suspect is described as black male, between the 20 and 27 years old, 5’7”-5’9”, 145 to 165lbs.

The suspect has worn a mask during the attacks.
No arrests have been made at this point. This is an ongoing investigation.
