2 Dead, 1 Injured at Burlington Coat Factory In North Hollywood

LOS ANGELES – Police were on scene of a deadly shooting at a Burlington Coat Factory in North Hollywood Thursday afternoon.

The gunfire broke out around around 11:45 a.m. local time at the business, which is located at 2121 Victory Blvd, Suite 100. Police say two people were fatally shot and another was injured on the second floor of the store.

Witnesses told local media the suspect was swinging a bike chain. It was unclear if he was armed with a gun.

“While officers were en route, they also received additional radio reports from multiple people indicating there was a shooting in progress, possible active shooter,” LAPD Captain Stacy Spell said. “Those individuals said they were sheltering in place and taking cover.”

CBSLA reported: Police say officers encountered the suspect about to assault a second victim and opened fire killing the the suspect. A second person, a woman, was also shot and killed.

LAPD confirmed that the second person killed in today’s shooting at a Burlington Coat Factory store in North Hollywood was a 14-year-old girl, and police believe she was killed by an officer’s bullet that passed through the wall of a dressing room, where she was found.

Police say the scene is no longer active and is secure. A motive for the crime remains unknown.
