Multiple People Shot At Juneteenth Celebration In South Carolina

YORK COUNTY, SC – York County Detectives are investigating an incident where at least three people were shot at a Juneteenth celebration in Clover, SC.

The shooting occurred Saturday night, just before 11:30 P.M. near the intersection of Oakridge Road and Bellaire Circle in the Oakridge community. Deputies responded to the area after a 9-1-1 call about multiple gunshots that were fired during a Juneteeth celebration.

Through the initial investigation, it was discovered three people were shot. Two of the three victims were taken by personal vehicles to a hospital in Gaston County, North Carolina. The third victim, a 17-year-old male, was taken to Atrium Health Center in Charlotte by helicopter. All victims are residents of Gaston County, NC.

In addition to the three victims, multiple cars were shot during the incident.

Regarding a separate incident that occurred earlier in the evening at about 10:55 P.M. near Regal Road and Oakridge Road, Detectives are investigating a road rage confrontation with gunshots fired. The victim tells Detectives that a car leaving the same Juneteenth celebration abruptly pulled in front of their car which nearly caused a collision. The victim told Detectives he honked his horn and flashed his headlights at the car. Moments later, the suspect car pulled beside the victim and fired shots into the side of the car. The victim’s car was also occupied by his wife, and two minor children, 11 and 8 years old. A bullet hole was found in the right rear passenger door where one of the children was sitting.

The suspect is described as a black male with dreadlock hair driving a dark-colored four-door Chevrolet Malibu with a Georgia license plate.

Currently there is no one in custody for either incident.
