Nashville Man Fatally Shot With Rifle While Walking To Work, Police Investigating Whether Similar Incidents Are Related

NASHVILLE, TENN. — Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department are working to identify two men armed with a rifle who gunned down a man early Tuesday during an apparent robbery in the 100 block of Alta Loma Road.

Kendall Rice, 31, was reportedly on his way to work, walking from his home on Crestview Drive to catch the bus on N. Gallatin Road, when a dark sedan drove up behind him in the 100 block of Alta Loma Road. According to a witness, two black men who appeared to be in their 30s, shot Rice and fled in a dark sedan. Rice died at the scene. His personal belongings were missing.

A short time later, at 5:15 a.m., a second man was shot and critically injured during an apparent robbery attempt at the Falcon View Apartments, 201 E. Palestine Avenue.

A third attempted robbery is being investigated by Goodlettsville Police. The victim reported that he drove off after two men, armed with a rifle, attempted to rob him at 4:45 a.m. at the Rivergate Meadows Apartments, 100 Rivergate Meadows Drive.

The investigation continues into whether all three cases are related.
