Nashville detectives are working to identify the man who kidnapped and raped a woman after she and a male friend mistakenly entered the suspect’s pickup truck downtown thinking it was a ride share.

The victim and man, who were both intoxicated, left a downtown bar Monday around 2:45 a.m. They got into a black 4-door Chevrolet pickup truck with multiple Harley Davidson insignias, including a front vanity plate. The driver, a white man who appeared to be in his 50s with salt and pepper hair wearing a camouflage shirt, took them to a short term rental on 9th Avenue North. The male exited the truck and was attempting to assist the victim from the vehicle when the driver sped off with the woman still in the pickup.

The victim reported that the suspect drove her to a field some thirty minutes away and sexually assaulted her before driving back to Nashville where he dropped her off.

The pickup truck bears a Tennessee American Eagle Foundation vanity license plate. There is a tool storage box in the bed of the truck. The vehicle also has a tint strip on the windshield, fender flares and running boards. The Chevrolet bowtie emblem is black on both the front and back of the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the suspect or pickup truck (surveillance photos attached) is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
