Navy Commander Pleads Guilty After Accepting Prostitutes For Classified Information

A Navy commanders has pleaded guilty to bribery charges after he was accused of diverting ships to Asian ports for contractors in exchange for prostitutes and gifts.

Michael Misiewicz is a commander is one of the highest officials to be charges in the huge scandal, along with businessman Leonard Francis.

Leonard Francis has already admitted to proving gifts in exchange for classified information that helped his company.

He then used the bribes to obtain information to beat the other competition and steer ships to Pacific ports where he overcharged the Navy.

Prosecutors heard how Francis asked captains to re-route ships to ports he owned where he would impose fake fees onto the Navy.

Misiewicz pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to commit bribery and bribery of a public official at a hearing in federal court in San Diego.

He now faces up to 20 years in prison if sentences to the maximum amount.

his lawyers released a statement explaining how he regrets his action from 2011 to 2012.

They went on to say that they plan to show at his sentencing hearing this was an ‘extreme departure from his otherwise distinguished and honorable 30 plus year career.’
