NEW YORK — On January 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. State Police responded to a residence on Haig Road in the town of Potsdam for a report of a domestic incident.

Upon their arrival on scene, Troopers had to extinguish two small fires outside, near the front door of the residence, which were found to have been set by 27-year-old Nicolas H. Scott. Scott had engaged in an altercation with the 34-year-old female victim in which he pulled a toilet seat off the hinges and threw it through a window inside the residence. He then took the toilet seat and a computer chair and set them on fire outside the residence.

Scott then fled the residence on foot. He was located and arrested by a New York State Police K9 Unit. Scott was found to have minor lacerations to his hands. Potsdam Rescue arrived on scene and treated the lacerations.

Scott was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, and Harassment 2nd degree. He was arraigned in the Waddington Town Court where he was released under the supervision of probation.
