New York State Police: Drunken Camp Counselor Arrested After Entering Wrong Cabin

NEW YORK — On July 29, 2017, New York State Police, Warsaw arrested Nicholas D. Maroney, age 20, of Perry, NY, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On July 29, 2017, Maroney was then employed as a camp counselor at YMCA Genesee/Camp Hough on West Lake Road in the Town of Castile, NY, when he returned to the campground intoxicated and went into the wrong cabin to sleep. Maroney was observed by other staff and campers exiting the occupied bunk bed of a 7-year-old female camper in the morning. At this time there is no report of sexual contact.

Maroney was arrested without incident, then arraigned in the Town of Castile Court and remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of bail or bond.

Maroney is to reappear in the Town of Castile Court on August 7, 2017.
