NJ Woman Who Shot Cabbie During Robbery, Drove With Him In Backseat, Arrested In Florida, Cops Say

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — On February 24, 2020, a woman wanted for attempted murder was arrested in Pensecola, Florida.

Myasia Adubato, 21, who was wanted for her involvement in the shooting of a taxicab driver on February 8, was arrested by members of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office from Pensecola, Fl. Adubato was charged by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit after the completion of their investigation into this incident.

On February 8 at 7:19 pm, patrol officers responded to Virginia and Baltic Avenues for a report of a man shot. Officers located the victim, 65-years-old from Atlantic City, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for his injuries.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a taxicab driver, picked up Adubato on the beach block of North Carolina Avenue. The victim drove to the beach block of Vermont Avenue when Adubato shot him and demanded his money and belongings. The victim exited the taxicab and Adubato ordered him into the backseat. The victim got back in the cab and Adubato drove away. At Virginia and Baltic Avenues, the victim was able to escape the cab and summon help. Adubato left the area and abandoned the cab several blocks away.

Adubato is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, carjacking, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, tampering with evidence, and criminal mischief.

Adubato is awaiting an extradition hearing to be transported back to New Jersey.
