NY State Trooper Has Life-Threatening Injuries After Being Struck During Traffic Stop

On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at approximately 4:45 PM, Trooper Craig Foglia initiated a vehicle and traffic stop on I-86 in the town of Campbell, Steuben County.

During the course of that stop, and while seated in his troop car, Trooper Foglia was struck from behind by a westbound vehicle.

As a result of that collision, Trooper Foglia sustained severe injuries and was subsequently airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

During the course of the night, Trooper Foglia underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation by the Troop E Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Uniform personnel.

Trooper Foglia is a 13-year-veteran of the New York State Police, and is assigned to Troop E, Painted Post.
