NYC: Snow Continues Through The Overnight With Bitter Cold Temperatures Through Friday

Coastal low is moving along the Mid Atlantic coast today. The low will bring moderate to heavy snow and gusty winds into Wednesday morning resulting near blizzard conditions for the NYC area. Bitter cold temperatures will continue through Friday. No further precipitation is expected after Wednesday morning.

Timing and Precipitation

Snow will continue to fall this afternoon through Wednesday morning. A total of 8-12 inches of light fluffy snow is expected across the city. The heaviest snow will be from 4 PM to 10 PM (evening commuter rush) with maximum snowfall rates near 1-2 inches of snow per hour. Snow will taper off after midnight with only 1-3 inches of snow expected during that time period. Heavy snow combined with strong winds will leave visibilities of mile or less. A Blizzard Watch/Warning is not expected.

Temperatures

Today: High 15-20s with wind chills 5-12 degrees.
Overnight: Lows 10-15 degrees with wind chills dropping to 0- (-) 10 degrees Wednesday morning.
Wednesday: High in the teens with wind chills of 0- (-) 5 degrees.

Winds

This Afternoon: Winds out of the North 15-20 MPH with gusts of 20-30 MPH.
Wednesday: N-NW 20-25 MPH with gusts of 25-35 MPH.
