NYPD Transit cops arrested man in possession of loaded handgun after observing him jump the turnstile Monday afternoon in a Harlem subway station.
Police Officers Justin Berey and Steven Lane, assigned to the Transit Bureau Anti-Terrorism Unit, were patrolling in the 135 Street subway station when they observed a man jump the turnstile to avoid paying the fare.
As the officers stopped the suspect he fled on foot, but the officers were able to apprehended him after a brief struggle.
The officers searched the suspect after placing him under arrest and found a loaded Smith and Wesson .380 handgun.
The 30-year-old man from Bronx was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, theft of service, resisting arrest and criminal trespass.
