NEW YORK — A 24-year-old electrician from the Bronx says he was attacked on the subway 5 train for being a Trump supporter.
Corey Cataldo says he was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat while on the commute Friday when a black male started staring at him.
Police told The New York Daily News his attacker said “Great, another white Trump supporter,” before his assault.
Cataldo explained the ordeal to WABC, “”He asked me if I’m a Trump supporter. I said ‘yeah’ and thought he’d say ‘me too.’ People have been doing that” […] “But no. This man was not a Trump supporter.”
“The next thing I know, I have hands around my neck and I’m being choked.” […] “I try to fight him off, and another gentleman comes over, pretends like he’s going to help me and says ‘get off of him.’ He shoves me up against the wall, up against the window.”
The man says the assault only stopped when the train doors opened and the suspects fled.
The NYPDÂ confirms they are investigating.
Cataldo was not seriously injured.
