Police have announced that cocaine was found inside the tour bus bedroom where Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland was found dead.

The singer – known for songs such as Plush and Vasoline – died in bed on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota, on Thursday night after battling a career-long addiction to drink and drugs.

First responders speaking to police dispatchers said around 9pm that the rockstar died of cardiac arrest, and a fellow rock star said that he had been recently been using crack cocaine.

Audio obtained by TMZ showed that first responders said that Weiland was dead on arrival when they came to his bus located near a Country Inn and Suites next to the Mall of America.

Weiland was inconsolable at the news of his death and told the Los Angeles Times: ‘I can’t deal with this right now.’

Weiland also leaves a son and daughter from his second marriage, who are aged just 13 and 15.

The singer’s Facebook page said: ‘Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts.

‘At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected’.

Weiland’s current band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts, had been scheduled to play a show in nearby Medina, Minnesota, according to a local venue’s website.
