91-year-old man called 911 before he and his wife were found dead in murder-suicide, police say

Moorpark, California – An investigation is ongoing after an elderly couple, both 91-years-old, were found dead in their home, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday:

On 11/13/2021, at approximately 11:50 AM, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 call from a male who requested deputies respond to a residence in the 11100 Block of Broadview Drive. The caller advised dispatch the deputies would find 2 bodies at the location. The caller then hung up on the dispatcher.

Deputies assigned to the Moorpark Police Department responded and located one deceased male and one deceased female at the location. The two decedents were identified as a married couple associated with the residence. The original caller was believed to be that of the male decedent.

Detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Moorpark Police Department responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the property. An investigator from the Medical Examiner’s Office responded and, in coordination with detectives, completed a scene investigation. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Deputies do not believe there are any outstanding suspects relating to the deaths. The cause and manner of the deaths will be determined by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
