NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — Hermitage Precinct detectives are continuing to investigate what was behind the reported continuing rift between 15-year-old Jaezoine Woods and others that apparently led to Woods’ murder Tuesday night on Lewis Street in the J.C. Napier Public Housing Development.

The investigation to this point shows that an altercation between Woods and others took place in the parking lot near 686 Lewis Street, with several shots being fired at 8:45 p.m. Woods, who is believed to have been hit at that point, ran away. The suspects reportedly got into a white car and cut Woods off, firing again at him. He collapsed in the 700 block of Lewis Street. Woods was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

A 45-year-old female resident of J.C. Napier, who walked onto her back porch after hearing shots, was struck in the buttocks by an apparent ricochet. She was treated and released at Vanderbilt.

One of the suspects is described as a young black man, approximately six feet tall, who has a heavy build and wore a white T-shirt and orange shorts.

Anyone with information on the persons involved in Jaezoine Woods’ murder is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
