Police: Mother left child in hot car while shopping

HOUSTON, Texas — On October 5, 2019, deputies responded to the 6500 block of the North Grand Parkway in reference to a welfare check. Upon deputies arriving, a witness advised that a child was left unattended in a locked motor vehicle that was not running.

Constable Deputies quickly located the vehicle and observed a two year old child inside sweating and asleep. The temperature was 92 degrees at this time. The child was quickly removed from the vehicle and examined by EMS.

The mother, identified as Ahlam Maleg was surrounded by concerned citizens who advised that the child was in the vehicle for approximately 15-20 minuets before the mother exited the department store.

Child Protective Services were contacted and advised of the facts of this case. The child was released to a family friend who arrived on scene.

Ahlam Maleg was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Child Endangerment. Her bond was set at $1,000.00 out of the 180th District Court.
