Police: New Jersey Man Wearing Monitoring Bracelet Arrested In Shooting

NEW JERSEY — Newark Police arrested Jermel Medley, 31, of Newark, who was wearing a monitoring bracelet for an aggravated assault arrest on February 27, 2017.

Today’s arrest is related to a warrant issued for Medley’s arrest for weapon possession in connection with a shooting that occurred on Monday, April 10, 2017.

At approximately 12:50 a.m., officers responded to Cutler Street and 6th Avenue on a call of a shooting. Police located a male victim shot inside a vehicle. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and released.

Detectives investigating the shooting developed evidence that Jermel Medley is a suspect and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Medley was arrested without incident. He is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Receiving Stolen Property.
