Prosecutor: Snapchat Saves Woman’s Life During Violent Sexual Assault

CAMDEN COUNTY, New Jersey — A Gibbsboro man has been arrested and charged on August 19, 2017 with Aggravated Sexual Assault.

A friend of the 18-year-old victim became concerned for her safety when she saw the victim on Mason Mallon’s Snapchat post. She appeared to be unconscious.

The friend called the Gibbsboro Police to check on the victim at the defendant’s home on the 100 block of West Clementon Road. The police arrived and discovered the victim disoriented, bruised and covered in blood in Mallon’s bedroom. She was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.

After an investigation into the lead, Mason Mallon, 24, was charged with one count of first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, one count of second degree Sexual Assault, one count second degree of Aggravated Assault, one count of third degree Aggravated Assault, one count of third degree Criminal Restraint and one count of third degree Invasion of Privacy.

Mallon was remanded to Camden County Jail pending a pretrial detention hearing set for Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Honorable Judge John T. Kelley in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform. Under the recent Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained without bail or released with conditions.
