C.KHiD once said “Every week, every day, 24-7” [ song here ] and it seems Hip-Hop culture do that indeed. The same cycle keeps repeating. Rappers going to jail for things that were easily avoidable. However, one Chicago rapper recently had luck. Herbert Randall Wright III, better known to rap fans as G Herbo, narrowly escaped being tossed into a Mexican jail.
This came after the musician got busted trying to take two ounces of weed into the country. He took to social media to vent about the experience and express his dismay and displeasure.
On 15 September, his fans saw the video he uploaded to social media in which he admitted that he bribed Mexican police.
G Herbo paid $5,000 to Mexican police according to TheSource.com. At first, the rapper coughed up $2 000 when the officials approached him about the weed. Then he paid $1 000, but it’s not clear why this money was paid.
His security crew also forked up $2 000, pushing the total amount to a whopping $5 000 – certainly not an expense that G Herbo planned on.
He was clearly upset and said that the drama unfolded only 10 minutes after landing in Mexico. According to him, the officials found two ‘zips’ and then demanded the money or he’d be going to jail.
The rapper was unhappy that they took all his marijuana but it was reported he had some left. Apparently, the Mexican police didn’t find his entire stash.
Still, G Herbo will likely think twice before trying to smuggle weed into a foreign country again.
Maybe next time, he could consider taking with him alternatives that won’t get him into trouble with the police.
TheCBDInsider.com says there are legal alternatives in 2020 that rappers can travel with.
One example of such an alternative is medical marijuana. It is used by many people for various medical reasons and isn’t as addictive. There are fewer (if any) risks linked to medical marijuana as well.
So instead of losing $5k, the Chi-Town rap star could just stick to virtual touring, time traveling New York or Atlanta through Hip-Hop music video ( see Atlanta list here ).
Other Celebs Busted With Dope
G Herbo certainly isn’t the only celebrity who likes to relax and take the edge off with a joint. Many Hollywood stars do the same thing and sometimes, they get caught.
Bill Murray, Whitney Houston and well-known marijuana supporter Willie Nelson are just a few stars who’ve been caught with weed.
Jimi Hendrix, Bill Murray, Wiz Khalifa and Robert Downey Jr. also had run-ins with the law after getting busted.
Some celebs, such as Willie Nelson, take things further and start creating their own dope brands.
Willie’s Reserve and Khalifa Kush are just two examples from celebs that went from busted to booming in the industry.
Next time G Herbo is looking to unwind with a joint, he’d be better off doing so at home in the States with locally-grown products.
