Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Encounters Over 130 Illegal Aliens

HIDALGO, Texas – Today, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Weslaco station encountered another large group near Hidalgo, Texas. In a little over 24 hours, agents apprehended 131 illegal aliens in two separate groups.

This morning, Weslaco agents encountered a group of 65 illegal aliens comprised of 25 family units and 11 unaccompanied children from the countries of Guatemala and El Salvador.

Yesterday, Weslaco agents encountered a group of 66 illegal aliens comprised of 20 family units and 11 unaccompanied children from the countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Border patrol is processing the subjects.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives.
