TEMPLE, Texas — On Saturday, 03-09-19 at approximately 8:41 p.m., Temple Officers responded to an unknown injury call near the 2600 block of IH-35 and Belair Dr. The caller advised that a family of five were traveling northbound on IH-35, between exits 303 and 305, when someone threw a large rock from the railroad track overpass onto the highway.

The rock struck and entered the vehicle’s windshield, making contact with the front seat passenger, and causing significant injuries, which resulted in the death of 33-year-old, Keila Ruby Flores.

“All of a sudden, something just strikes the window. It’s an explosion,” Christopher Rodriguez, Keila’s boyfriend told KWTX. “I look over and I see Keila and she’s just laying there unresponsive. I’m shaking her, trying to wake her up, (but) she was unresponsive.”

Flores was transported from the scene to Baylor Scott and White Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries this morning at 10:32 a.m. An autopsy has been ordered.
