A Russian transport helicopter was shot down in rebel territory in Syria on Monday and all five officers and crew onboard were kiled.
The helicopter, carrying five people on board, was shot down in Idlib Province.
“From what we know from information provided by the Defense Ministry, all those who were on the helicopter died,” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said.
“The Russians died heroically because they tried to move the aircraft away so to minimize losses on the ground.”
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
On Sunday, ISIS posted a video on YouTube, which called on its members to carry out Jihad in Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will continue to fight international terrorism on all front despite the threats.
Videos uploaded online by Syrian activists show the burning wreckage of a Russian helicopter in footage taken in the first few moments after the helicopter crashed.
In July, two Russian airmen were killed in the central Homs province when their Mi-25 helicopter was shot down by what the Defense Ministry said were ISISÂ fighters.
