LIVE COVERAGE: Santa Clarita High School Shooting: Multiple Victims Reported, At Least 2 Dead

CALIFORNIA — A shooting occurred at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California Thursday morning, injuring at least six people and killing two.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed firefighters responded to the shooting before 8 a.m.

One of the students was struck in the stomach. One student was found at the school’s choir room. Another was struck outside the school. Four students were hospitalized at the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where three are under critical condition.

A weapon was located outside the area of the shooting.

The neighboring high school, William S. Hart High School, was placed on lock-down as well.

The 16-year-old suspect, “an Asian male wearing black clothing”, was apprehended an hour after the shooting and hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

It is believed that the individual is a student of the school.
