AMSTERDAM – Terminal three of Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport in the Netherlands was re-opened Monday evening local time after threats by a man with explosives closed the departure hall earlier in the day, authorities said.

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, a branch of the Netherlands armed forces, cleared the departure hall and immediate surroundings “as a precaution”, a statement released by Twitter said.

A follow up statement said that the situation is now “under control” and that the hall was now open.

Unconfirmed and early reports say that there was a man who yelled “I have a bomb”, triggering an evacuation by heavily armed police.

Reports from social media and AT5 say that there was an arrest made, with an image circulating showing an armed member of the Marechaussee standing over an individual on the ground, possibly in custody.

Early reports are hazy and there is not consistent or reliable information readily available.

Video from social media shows large crowds outside the airport under a dark sky that purportedly shows those who were evacuated from the departure hall, but Breaking911 is not able to immediately verify the authenticity of the video.
