SHERIFF: East Texas woman tried to hire someone to kill family member

HENDERSON, Texas — Law enforcement officials have arrested a Texas woman who allegedly attempted to hire someone to kill her husband, CBS19 reports.

An investigation conducted by the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division resulted in the arrest of Cheryl Thibodeaux, 42, of Henderson, for the criminal offense of Criminal Solicitation for Capital Murder, a felony of the 1st degree.

Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigators who were working in an undercover capacity, arrested Thibodeaux late Monday afternoon after Thibodeaux provided money as compensation for the murder solicitation.

Thibodeaux is currently incarcerated in the Rusk County Jail with a bond of $100,000.

If convicted, a felony of the 1st degree is punishable by up to 99 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Corrections Division, and a fine of up to $100,000.
