FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man has been jailed on multiple charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting two minor victims on multiple occasions.

On Tuesday, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for Carlos Luis Cruise, 40. Detectives began their investigation in January 2021, after two victims reported sex crimes starting when they were 10- years-old.

According to the Sheriff’s Office: Detectives took a report from a 16-year-old and 20-year-old victim on January 12, 2021, who identified Cruise as the subject. The victims disclosed multiple incidents of violent sex offenses occurring between the ages of 10 and 16. The 12-month investigation was a collaborative effort with the FCSO Major Case Unit (MCU), the FCSO Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), the Daytona Beach Police Department, and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Utilizing multiple investigative techniques and after a lengthy investigation, which included assistance from FCSO’s therapy dog “Goose,” detectives obtained a warrant for Cruise’s arrest.

Cruise was arrested on January 4, 2022, by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Team without incident. He was arrested for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation (Victim Under 12/Offender Over 18), Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition (Victim Under 16/Offender Over 18), and Lewd and Lascivious Molestation (Victim 12-16/Offender Over 18) and is being held on no bond.

“This is a sick and twisted individual who preyed on young children and took their innocence away,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “I want to thank Detective Gossett, our partners with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, and the Daytona Beach Police Department for their assistance in finally putting this disgusting dirtbag behind bars. I also want to make sure our therapy dog ‘Goose’ is recognized for his efforts. His presence helped give our brave victims the courage to come forward with these ongoing and horrible crimes. I pray the victims receive the help they need to recover from this abuse and this guy stays behind bars where he belongs.”
