New London, CT — A New London woman reportedly confessed to killing her child Sunday morning. Tiffany Farrauto, 33, has been charged with murder and risk of injury to a child. Her bond is set at $1 million.

Around 6:30 am, New London police were called to the parking lot of 242 Nautilus Drive for the report of a woman damaging a vehicle with a bat. Responding officers say they made contact with the “vehicle owner” and learned the woman had fled the scene.

While officers talked to the unidentified “vehicle owner,” Farrauto approached and spoke with officers. She reportedly said “take me away” and told the cops she had “hurt” her son.

New London Police Chief Peter Reichard said the vehicle owner did not know Farrauto.

Police immediately went to the apartment and made entry, police observed an unconscious and unresponsive young boy. Officers instantly began CPR in an attempt to resuscitate the child, while notifying emergency medical personnel. The child was transported to L+M Hospital by the New London Fire Department. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Reichard appeared to get choked-up while delivering the tragic news to the media. “It hits you right in the gut,” he said.

New London Mayor Michael Passero said, “We’re lost a second child to violence in as many weeks…I want to extend my condolences…We all share in a loss like this.”

Police did not reveal how the boy died.
