NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A teenager is dead following a shooting after a basketball game at Menchville High School in Newport News Tuesday night. The campus is located at 275 Menchville Road.
According to police, there was “some type of altercation” outside in the school parking lot. Shots were fired, and a teen boy was struck.
Officers attempted to provide first aid and CPR to the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said.
“The circumstances of this incident remain under investigation,” Newport News police said in a statement. “There is no suspect information to release at this time.”
