NASHVILLE — The fatal shooting of a 20-year-old Nashville man by his close friend appears to have been unintentional. Efforts are underway to locate the victim’s relatives.
The 20-year-old admitted shooter, Dedrick Wade, has told detectives that he and his friend were inside a home at 2003 S. Lyle Lane when he began handling a gun that he thought was unloaded. Wade said when he pulled the trigger, the weapon fired, wounding his friend in the head. Wade then took the victim to his car and was on the way to Southern Hills Medical Center when he pulled over in the 3900 block of Nolensville Pike and called 911. The victim was pronounced dead in the vehicle.
Wade has been cooperative with South Precinct detectives. The circumstances of this fatal shooting remain under investigation and will be staffed with the District Attorney’s Office.
