KNOXVILLE, TENN. — On Friday, at 4:00 p.m., officers responded to a deceased body call at a residence located at 2309 Sevier Avenue. According to the resident, he returned home and discovered his roommate deceased.
During the examination of the body by the medical examiner and KPD investigators, stab wounds were located on the victim. Evidence gathered on the scene led investigators to a possible suspect.
The suspect, the victim’s roommate, was located in the parking lot of a West Knoxville business by officers with the Knoxville Police Department’s Violence Reduction Team. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
After being interviewed by investigators, the suspect was charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Especially Aggravated Robbery.
The suspect, Steven Simpson, is being held on a $150,000 bond.
