JOHNSON CITY, TN – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a Bristol man in connection with an officer-involved shooting incident that occurred last month.

On March 23rd, TBI Special Agents began investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting that occurred at a home in the 900 block of Georgia Avenue in Bristol. The investigation revealed that officers with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department were at the residence searching for Eric Crawford, who had an outstanding arrest warrant. During a search of the home, Crawford was located in a closet. Upon being confronted, he attempted to assault one of the officers with an axe. The officer fired his service weapon, striking Crawford. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Last week, the Sullivan County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Crawford with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon. Today, Crawford was arrested and booked into the Sullivan County Jail on a $5,000 bond. As a condition of his bond, Crawford will be outfitted with a GPS monitoring device before being released from jail.
