LOS ANGELES –A tennis broadcaster and former tennis pro has entered a plea for assaulting his former friend.

Deputy District Attorney Lucrecia Boado said Justin Gimelstob, 42, of Los Angeles pleaded no contest yesterday to one misdemeanor count of battery with serious bodily injury.

Gimelstob entered an open plea, not negotiated with prosecutors.

Gimelstob was immediately sentenced to three years of summary probation, 60 days of community labor and 52 weeks of anger management classes.

On Oct. 31, 2018, Gimelstob attacked the man as the victim went trick-or-treating with his wife and son in West Los Angeles, the prosecutor said. The defendant came from behind and began punching him, knocking him to the ground where the attack continued, the prosecutor added.
