TEXAS – Duff Elementary School in Arlington, Texas was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday following an accidental discharge, police say.
A parent with a concealed weapon came to the school, which was on early release today. While that parent was there, his gun accidentally went off, striking him in the leg.
“We do not believe there was any malicious intent on the parent’s part or any threat to the school,” Arlington police said. “The parent was transported to an area hospital for treatment. An investigation by APD is ongoing and criminal charges are pending. Students were released from school as planned.”
According to NBC 5, the man ‘was walking toward the front office at Duff Elementary when he went to adjust his pants and hit the trigger on a gun tucked into his waistband.’
The investigation is ongoing.
