Hamilton, OH – An early morning blaze left three children dead, and their parents and another sibling hospitalized.
According to Cincinnati.com, the blaze started in a home at 135 Franklin Street around 2:30AM. Firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. It is unknown if the children were removed during the blaze, or after the fire was brought under control.
WCPO News spoke with Hamilton Fire Chief, Steve Dawson who says that that the father attempted to rescue the children in an upstairs bedroom. He was found unconscious
The three children are two girls (10, 12) and a 7-year-old boy. The father was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, while the mother and a 2-year-old child were taken by ground to Fort Hamilton Hospital.
It took firefighters two hours to bring the blaze brought under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ohio Fire Marshal.
